"Gardening at Night" is a song by R.E.M., written by Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe and was originally released as the second track on their 1982 Chronic Town EP. It was the only song from R.E.M.'s debut EP to feature on their 2006 I.R.S. best of album And I Feel Fine… The Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982–1987.

A slower electric demo was recorded to 2-track during the Reckoning album sessions in December 1983 but remained unreleased until it was placed on the limited edition bonus disc to And I Feel Fine… The Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982–1987 in 2006.

A live version of "Gardening at Night" was released as a B-side to the European release of the (Don't Go Back To) Rockville 12" single, recorded at the Theater El Dorado, Paris, France on April 20, 1984.
